8 weeks!

Emma is growing strong and is very healthy. As of last Monday (at 7 weeks) she was 12 lb 4 oz 22 and 3/4 inch in length. Ryan says he was a big baby and in my family the babies are all big and then lean out when they get moving. She is 95th percentile in height and 90th in weight. With both our families being so athletic, we are sure Emma will be as well. She is just sooo strong and as far as development continues to be ahead of the milestones. She is always smling and she is such a playful communicater- for what she can do. As of the last week or so she is sleeping 5-6 hours already.

She makes the cutest faces we have ever seen and her noises and squeals of delight just make us laugh! It's hard to get them for the camera though... unfortunately our camera has about a four second delay. She has a very expressive face and it glows with joy! Ryan says she is like her mommy because she is definitely a morning person (unlike Daddy). When she first wakes up she is so happy and talks her baby talk, and smiles and giggles before we even take her out of the bassinet.

We hope you enjoy the pictures......

Emma loves to play on her bouncy seat. We know it's early (development wise) but there are definitely little giggles that escape her cute mouth!
Once again in the swing. She is really filling it up.

This is our precious little buttercup laying in her crib....

Pictures at 5 weeks

It is hard to believe our little buttercup is 5 weeks old. It is so fun seeing her become more aware of the world. On her 5 week birthday bith Ryan and I got seperate smiles from her. Both times she was just waking up and one of us went to her and said "Hi Emma" and she looked at us and smiled. It was so cute.... In the swing again. We will take pictures here periodically to compare her to earlier pictures....
She hates her baths, she cries bloody murder every time. Ryan thinks it is funny because it is just water. Actually last night she was quiet for a couple seconds... Maybe we are seeing a positive change.

Becca adores her little Emma. She is so protective of her and always is right there when Emma is crying to make sure she is okay. When Ryan is taking his turn with a crying Emma at night Becca will come and wake me up to be with Emma.
Getting a massage from Daddy. She loves getting these and they relax her at night. She gets them after her bath every other night and just before bed on the others.
Still getting a massage......
Sleeping... or passed out!
BeautifulBeautiful baby face
I love those lips!

Emma spends most of her day sleeping, waking up at times to eat, burp and poop. She's cute when she does all three. Emma parties until the wee hours of the morning. We try to implement a curfew, but she just won't listen. She is very expressive and displays an array of facial expressions that usually tell us what she is feeling. She loves to keep her hands by her face and her arms stretched out when she sleeps.
There was a period of four days where Emma was eating like crazy. She would nurse for 40 minutes, take a 15-20 min. nap and wake up wanting to eat again. It was exhausting for Stacy and left her almost no time to do anything else but breastfeed. The baby help line called it a growth spurt and said that it was completely natural. They urged us to go with it and to give Emma what she wanted. Everyone had told us you cannot spoil or overfeed a baby under six months, but we were getting concerned by how extra chunky she was getting. Then we went to the doctor and found out that we were grossly overfeeding her. Babies are supposed to gain one ounce a day, but over the past 14 days, Emma had gained a whopping 24 oz. She went from the 60% in weight to the 85%. We decided to put her on a diet and are sticking to a schedule that works for everyone. Even though she's fat, we think Emma is still the cutest baby ever.
