Emma spends most of her day sleeping, waking up at times to eat, burp and poop. She's cute when she does all three. Emma parties until the wee hours of the morning. We try to implement a curfew, but she just won't listen. She is very expressive and displays an array of facial expressions that usually tell us what she is feeling. She loves to keep her hands by her face and her arms stretched out when she sleeps.
There was a period of four days where Emma was eating like crazy. She would nurse for 40 minutes, take a 15-20 min. nap and wake up wanting to eat again. It was exhausting for Stacy and left her almost no time to do anything else but breastfeed. The baby help line called it a growth spurt and said that it was completely natural. They urged us to go with it and to give Emma what she wanted. Everyone had told us you cannot spoil or overfeed a baby under six months, but we were getting concerned by how extra chunky she was getting. Then we went to the doctor and found out that we were grossly overfeeding her. Babies are supposed to gain one ounce a day, but over the past 14 days, Emma had gained a whopping 24 oz. She went from the 60% in weight to the 85%. We decided to put her on a diet and are sticking to a schedule that works for everyone. Even though she's fat, we think Emma is still the cutest baby ever.

Emma is here

Emma LeAnne Cameron was born on Januray 7, 2007 at 8:17 am.

She weighed in at 7 lbs 12 oz! She is a very strong little girl. From day 1 she was lifting her head off our shoulders. Just now, at six days old, she was cuddled up to me and I was talking to her and she lifted her head and looked at me! She sleeps all day and stays up all night. she likes to suck on her hands, her arm, anything! she is just adorable.... We went to the pediatician on Friday, and she weighed 8 lb 2 ounces.

She is named after my third great grandmother- Emma California Ferris. My mother has her china and silver so I grew up hearing about her. My sister and I each have one of her chairs that traveled with her from illinois to California in the 1850's. She is a great part of our family history. Her brother George Washington Gale Ferris Jr invented the Ferris Wheel for the 1893 world's fair. Her grandfather, Goerge Washington Gale, was a presbyterian minister who created the city of Galesberg, Illinois solely to be used as a stop on the underground railroad. Galesberg still exists to this day. It was also the sight of one of the Lincoln- Douglass debates.

Her middle name, LeAnne, combines my sisters middle name, Leigh, and mine, Anne. And lets just face, all of that family history aside- the name Emma LeAnne Cameron just flows.

She was born a year from the date that my Nana, Gertrude, died January 7, 2006. I find this very beautiful!

4D pictures taken of Emma in November!

She Looks like she has my nose from my baby pictures. But the lips do not look like my family.... They look like Ryan's!

Her hand is next to her mouth and she is sucking on her finger .....

She loves to rest her head on hand when she is sleeping... Something I always do when I rest. We had a hard time gettting her to move her hand from her face for the photos....

It is 2 days before the due date and we are anxiously awaiting our little Emma LeAnne. Although not quite so anxious for the experience that will bring her into this world. I have been dialated to a 1 and 50% effaced for the last 2 1/2 weeks with no change!
So far I have only felt two contractions, but I do have them daily - all day long. It seems I am a little different from most woman ( besides my mom) in that I don't feel contractions, but My Belly tightens and the only way I even know that it is a contraction is to touch my belly and feel how tight it is. I do feel a lot of lower pressure. I had suspected these were contractions but was not sure. We were at the hospital a couple weeks ago for some monitoring and they confirmed that I had a five minute contraction that I never even felt. Most people tell me how lucky I am.... But being the worrier that I am, I just hope I feel enough pain early enough to get me to the hospital. My doctor has told me to forego the usual waiting at home for 3-4 hours, she said as soon as I feel anything to go to the hospital.
I have tried a few different times to get our ultrasound pictures up but to no avail... The website keeps erroring on me! They are now up!
